Sept. 24-27: The Week Ahead in English Lit. I

 

Overview:

This week we will begin studying Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, reading them in the original Middle English.

Be sure to bring your Norton Anthologies to class and listen to the recording (for Tuesday's class) posted on the Schedule of Readings and Assignment Deadlines.

 

Assignments Due:

-The Timeline Quiz is on Wednesday. Prepare for the quiz by studying the information in the Master Timeline.

 

Questions to Consider for Reading and Class Discussion:

 

For Friday:

-Note the first word in the Prologue--why is it important? What are the different meanings of "experience" explored in the prologue?

-What are the Wife's attitudes towards men? Try to point to some examples that show her views.
